The Rudy Project sponsored Time Trial Series

Riders – Richard Davies – David Johnson High Wycombe cc Time Trial riders David Johnson and Richard Davies both had success in the Final round of the Rudy Project Time Trial Series this weekend.

 

The last event of the series was held on Salisbury Plain in chilly but sunny conditions.

Richard Davies came second in the Disabled discipline and David Johnson came Fourth in the veteran’s discipline (that’s 2nd on STD). The results series conclusion meant that the two High Wycombe CC riders achieved a superb National SILVER medal position result.

The TT series is a points based competition held on sporting courses across the UK. The series consists of 8 events where 5 events being qualifiers for points. There are Categories for men, Woman, juniors, Veterans and Disabled. The whole series requires extreme dedication and specific training so this is a big achievement for Richard and David and one High Wycombe CC are very proud of indeed.

In an event that proved popular among High Wycombe’s performance oriented cyclists, 2 club members took part in the West London Combine Hill Climb held on Windsor Hill, Wooburn Green.

Placing joint 3rd out of a field of 29 riders was High Wycombe CC’s Kevin Holloway with a time of 2 minutes 4 seconds, while Geoff Powell placed joint 8th with a time of 2 minutes 15 seconds.  Fastest rider on the day was Rory Atkins of Twickenham CC with a time of 1 minute 58 seconds.

Midland Trail quests Series

Rider – Nick Calkin 

This weekend High Wycombe CCs consistent MTB Rider Nick Calkin took part in the Midland Trail quests MTB series in the North Cotswold’s.

 The 3 hour MTB orienteering race started in Upper Brailes, Oxon and took in some of the Beautiful but tough classic Cotswold’s bridleways. After a couple of mishaps early on in the evebt due to wrongly places checkpoints Nick managed to score 355points after coming in 10 minutes late. This result was good enough for a magnificent 1st place overall with last season’s winner Ian Cartwright coming 2nd with 315.

Rider Rick FethersoneHigh Wycombe CC also had more great success this weekend in the Super veterans discipline at the Gorrick Autumn MTB classic

 

Rick Fetherston Raced in tough hard pack conditions to achieve First place. This was Rick’s first MTB race (being an enduro/Trail quest type of rider), Rick said “it was a bit of a Novelty as I have never won an MTB race before”. Ricks result will we hope spur him on to do more MTB races in the future.
