100 miles of hurt

Well that hurt!! Really enjoyed the day though – but I’ve never hurt in so many places at the same time before!!  rodda Head feel helmet shaped, neck is sore, triceps meant my support team had to put my bike in the car afterwards as I didn’t have the strngth to lift it, I had stomach cramps from about 7 hours-11 hours, left foot sore, and my legs… well nuff said!!  I won’t go into any info on my saddle shaped behind!!

Started well, was ahead of my 250 mile schedule after 6 hours, having ridden 130 miles at that point, keeping my HR to 70%. It kinda gets to you after 8 hours in the saddle though, when you think there is still 4 to go!! Felt good until about 10hr 30mn, after which I struggle to get my HR beyond 65%. However, I was able to hold an aero position for the majority of the ride – stood up for a few 1mn sections, but pleased that my pilates has paid off – my back didn’t give me any problems at all, which I though it might.

Overall, 8th place, 254.7miles… Results are provisional, as some people got sent around the inner circuit too early, but my distance is right according to my computer, and my schedule.
