RELIABILITY AND TURBO BONANZA

Good weather for a change meant 30 plus riders turning out for the HWCC 50 mile reliability

Fast Froup -Clive Nicholls,James Norris and Gareth Batson finished the event is 2hrs 35 mins

Medium Group riders -Neil Wragg ,Mike Chappel and Paul Lazenby finished in 2hrs 58

One accident involving Karla Boddy and a muddy section of the course meant an ambulance had to be called . Good news is that Karla is well but hacked off that now she has to heal her  broken Collar bone so a few weeks off the bike for her .

Pic of karla as per her request and permission below

pay your subs or end up like this ok

Also , dont forget wed night Turbo sessions are in full swing .

last weeks session was well attended with more expected this week . Several new members enjoyed the Turbo experience as per Gordon Wrights tough programme . Sessions are a tough as you want them to be so get yourself down and enjoy the burn as focus here will payback during your coming season

Ice Ice Baby

Well another weekend of Ice meant HWCC riders risking life ,limb and spangly kit on our untreated pot hole riddled roads.

The 50 Hilly took Place with 15 riders turning up .The Fast group contained one rider Matt Stevens who completed the rather slippy and icy route in 2hrs 48 mins.

Also this weekend HWCC sportive rider John Francis Completed 100K “Hell of Ashdown”  Sportive starting and finishing in Biggin Hill, Kent.  The conditions in places were atrocious with patches of sheet ice on the B roads. John Witnessed fallers and even riders falling whilst pushing their bikes over icy stretches. At one point the skies clouded over and  a few flakes of snow fell but it didn’t amount to much. This is the 2nd time  in a row now that John has done this event. Both years the weather has been as bad as one can expect for the end of January, but it still incredibly popular, places for the event sold out in no time. John managed to stay upright and was glad to get round in one piece.  John did slower time than last year of 5 hours 9 minutes but all in all  it wasn’t a day for heroics.
well done that man

WHERES THE SALT

HWCC 50 mile Reliability

32 Riders took part in the HWCC 50 mile Reliability ride this sunday.

Several groups split into ability rode in ice free conitions for a change finishing in Princes Risborough and filling up the new Costa Coffee cafe

Medium fast group finished in 2hrs 35 mins (Thats my group ) with the fast group completing the route in 2hrs 15 mins  .

Some rather pleased HWCC riders re-fuled with coffee and cake

Crash – Bang -Wallop

OUCH !!!!!!

Todays Reliability ride was postponed due to rather a lot of ice on the roads . The Forcast of 7 c warmth didnt seem to appear with a max of 5 c in High Wycombe at around 13:00hrs. Many  HWCC riders turned up at the Guild Hall .All Riders had stories of slips and spills and a few had  bashed and bruised bodys and torn kit.

Costa Coffee has never seen so many cyclists turn up at once as the throng of HWCC riders decided a Cappuchino was maybe a better choice than trying to ride the untreated roads . A small delegation of riders managed 84k on a Risborough loop so some enjoyed themselves the majority however headed home to the evil Turbo Trainer . The event has now been moved to next sunday the weather we hope will be better – Fingers crossed .

50-mile flat reliability trial

We will run this reliability trial on Sunday 24 January, weather permitting.

This means that the club run to Runnymede is canceled unless any member volunteers to lead.

Snowmagedon

Odd as it may seem we have no Race reports of late – However we do have a great selection of pics members have sent in – See below Club riders enjoying the MTB and getting some miles in during SNOWMAGEDON week.
